​Reasons for controlling pests
Controlling pests in rural properties and the countryside is essential for maintaining the health of crops and livestock, protecting natural ecosystems, and ensuring the health and well-being of people. Pests can cause significant damage to there environments and spread diseases among animals and humans. Additionally, managing non-native animals is crucial as they can out-compete local wildlife for resources, and lead to the decline of native species. By implementing effective pest control measures, we can promote a balanced environment .
​Methods
​Christchurch Wildlife Management use a number of different ways to control nuisance animals.
Physical control the use of shooting, trapping or snaring, as well keeping pests out of areas in the first place via blocking off entry points or fencing off areas.
​Chemical control​ using Rodenticide or Insecticide to gain control of a pest infestation quickly.
Biological control​ in some cases we use natural predators like dogs or ferrets to help keep pests at bay.
We assess each site and pick the most appropriate way to deal with the situation effectively without causing any harm to non target species. We can also monitor sites for pest activity using non toxic bait stations or trail cameras.
